Tuesday--Thesis statement due
Wednesday--Vocabulary test over #41-50. See last weeks entry for the vocabulary words and definitions. No new vocabulary for next week.
Parent/Teachers Conferences--4-8 pm Thursday and 8-12 on Friday.
Monday--Hand in essays. Make sure the rubric is attached. We will discuss Ch. XI.
Tuesday--Finish Ch XI and continue with the Appendix.
Wednesday--Vocabulary test over #31-40; Continue on to #41-50 after the test.
Thursday--Finish Ch XI and Appendix
Monday--We will discuss Ch. X--first half. We are getting to this sooner than the reading schedule stipulates; however, we are ready for it. The students were notified of the reading assignments last Friday.
Tuesday--Second half of Ch. X should be read. We will probably have a quiz.
Wednesday--Vocabulary test over #21-30. Introduce #31-40 after the students are finished with the test.
Thursday & Friday--Essay writing days. The essay will be due on Monday.
Requirements for essay:
Prompt: Several times in his Narrative, Douglass expresses his view that slavery is bad for both whites and blacks. In what ways is/was slavery detrimental to the South?
You will need two examples to show how slavery was detrimental and one for how it was detrimental for the blacks.
